Delicious and festive candy cane cookies that are perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar.
  3. Add the vanilla and peppermint extracts, mixing until combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until dough forms.
  5. Divide the dough in half; color one half with red food coloring.
  6. Roll out a tablespoon of each color into ropes, twist together, and form into a candy cane shape.
  7. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool before sprinkling with crushed candy canes.
