- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and yeast together.
- Add the warm water and olive oil, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for 12-18 hours, until the surface is bubbly.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat.
- Once heated, carefully remove the pot, place the dough onto a floured surface, and shape it gently.
- Transfer the dough to parchment paper, then carefully place it into the hot Dutch oven.
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes, uncover, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
Notes
- For a crispier crust, allow bread to cool in the oven with the door slightly ajar.
- Store any leftovers in a paper bag to keep the crust crispy.
