Description

Deliciously fluffy morning buns flavored with orange zest and cardamom, perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ground cardamom
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter and eggs, mixing until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt, cardamom, and orange zest.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, kneading until smooth.
  5. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough and spread with brown sugar and a sprinkle of cardamom.
  7. Roll the dough and cut into buns, placing them in a baking dish.
  8. Let rise for another 30 minutes, then bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly and drizzle icing on top before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra citrus kick, add a little orange juice to the icing.
  • These buns are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container.
