- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 3 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons Earl Grey tea leaves
- 2 tablespoons culinary lavender
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the milk and mix until combined.
- In another bowl, combine dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, tea leaves, and lavender.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- For a stronger tea flavor, steep the tea leaves in the milk for 30 minutes before adding.
- This cake pairs beautifully with a lavender-infused frosting.
