Description

Potthucke is a delectable traditional German potato cake that combines simple ingredients to create a comforting dish often enjoyed at gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 200 g smoked bacon
  • 2 onions
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil


Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes and onions.
  2. In a bowl, mix grated potatoes, bacon (diced), onions, egg, flour, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Spoon the potato mixture into the pan, flattening it to a cake shape.
  5. Cook for about 10-15 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
