Description

A traditional Romanian dish made with cornmeal, topped with cheese and sour cream.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cheese (e.g. feta or telemea)
  • 1 cup sour cream


Instructions

  1. Bring water and salt to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Gradually whisk in the cornmeal, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  3. Cook on low heat for about 20-30 minutes, stirring frequently until thickened.
  4. Pour the polenta into a serving dish and let it cool slightly.
  5. Top with crumbled cheese and dollops of sour cream before serving.

Notes

  • Polenta can be served soft or allowed to cool and sliced.
  • For extra flavor, you can add herbs or spices to the polenta while cooking.
