Description

Delicious Salvadoran stuffed corn tortillas filled with flavorful ingredients and served with a refreshing cabbage slaw.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the masa harina, water, and salt until a dough forms.
  2. Divide the dough into small balls and flatten each ball into a tortilla.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook each tortilla for about 1-2 minutes on each side.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the chicken, refried beans, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Place some of the filling in the center of each tortilla and fold them over.
  6. In another bowl, combine cabbage, tomatoes, onions, lime juice, and mix well.
  7. Serve the stuffed tortillas with the cabbage slaw on the side.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute chicken with additional refried beans or sautéed vegetables.
  • Adjust the lime juice and seasoning to taste for the slaw.
  • These tortillas can also be served with salsa for extra flavor.
