Description

A delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich featuring smoked Gouda and apple slices.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices whole grain bread
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 ounces smoked Gouda cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 apple, thinly sliced


Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  4. Add smoked Gouda cheese on top of the bread.
  5. Layer apple slices over the cheese.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  7. Cook until the first side is golden brown, then flip and cook until the second side is golden and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from skillet, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon on the apples.
  • Pair with a side of tomato soup for dipping.
