Description

A delicious and hearty French dish made with potatoes, bacon, and creamy cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds potatoes
  • 8 ounces lardons or bacon
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 8 ounces Reblochon cheese, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel and slice the potatoes, then boil them in salted water until tender.
  3. In a skillet, cook the lardons or bacon until crispy, then add the sliced onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Layer half of the potatoes in a baking dish, followed by half of the bacon and onion mixture, then half of the cheese.
  5. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, bacon mixture, and cheese.
  6. Pour the heavy cream over the top and season with black pepper and salt.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

Notes

  • For a more authentic taste, use authentic Reblochon cheese.
  • This dish pairs well with a simple green salad.
  • It is best enjoyed hot out of the oven.
