- 1 cup dried plums, chopped
- 1 cup dark raisins
- 1 cup currants
- 1/2 cup mixed candied peel
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 3 large eggs
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine all the dried fruits, candied peel, and nuts.
- Add breadcrumbs, brown sugar, and all the spices. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, brandy, and eggs.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until fully combined.
- Grease a pudding mold and pour the mixture into it.
- Cover the mold with parchment paper and steam for about 6 hours.
- Allow to cool before removing from the mold.
- To make the brandy butter sauce, blend softened butter with powdered sugar and add brandy to taste.
- Serve slices of plum pudding warm with brandy butter sauce.
Notes
- Soaking the dried fruits in brandy overnight enhances the flavor.
- This pudding can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
