Description

A delicious fusion of Korean tteokbokki and classic mac and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces rice cakes (tteok)
  • 2 cups macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, stir in flour, and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add milk gradually while whisking until thickened.
  4. Stir in cheese, gochujang, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Add cooked macaroni and rice cakes to the cheese sauce; stir to combine.
  6. Transfer mixture to a baking dish and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add more gochujang.
  • Top with additional cheese before baking for a cheesy crust.
